What is your favorite hymn? Research it and find its history ~Family History Tuesday~

Oh how lovely was the morning
Radiant beamed the sun above
Bees were humming, sweet birds singing
Music ringing through the grove...

As a child, I clearly remember holding the dark-blue-covered hymnbook in my hands. The sun entered through the chapel's tall windows, brightening the page of this hymn. I always  imagined that I could hear the bees buzzing and the birds chirping nearby.

But, I digress from what my favorite hymn is.

For the Beauty of the Earth is actually my all-time favorite hymn. Folliott Pierpoint, who lived in Bath, England, wrote the words. "It is thought that the loveliness of the area inspired Pierpoint to write this hymn." He did write other hymns and poems, but he is only known for this one.
"The hymn praises God for a host of beauties –– things that we encounter in everyday living, but often fail to appreciate –– the beauty of the earth and skies, the beauty of each hour, the joy of ear and eye, and the joy of human love.  It also expresses thanksgiving for the church –– and for Christ."  -lectionary.org
and here is a challenge from lectionary.org :
..let us determine to be more intentional this week about seeing and appreciating the many beauties and joys that God has placed at our disposal..
